Beverly Barrett


Beverly Barrett is an international policy specialist, educator, and researcher who has taught in the Global Studies program. With a focus on institutional change and innovation, she has researched regional integration through higher education reform in the European Union. Dr. Barrett earned her doctorate in International Studies at the University of Miami in Florida while serving as a doctoral fellow with the European Union Center of Excellence. She completed her B.S. cum laude in Human & Organizational Development at Vanderbilt University. In the M.A. program at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna, Italy and Washington, D.C, she specialized in International Economics and Foreign Policy. Dr. Barrett's background in international policy includes service in public affairs with the U.S. House of Representatives, the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs, and the Department of State as Assistant to the U.S. Ambassador in Helsinki, Finland. Additionally she served as Program Director for Literacy Texas and Public Affairs Representative at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She served as a visiting lecturer at Texas A&M University School of Government and Public Service, and she is a lecturer in the new Master of Public Policy (MPP) program at the Hobby Center for Public Policy. Proficient in in Spanish, Italian, and French, she studied at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain.
