Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of time commitment does this program require?
Students are expected to attend a 90-minute workshop with their assigned cohort each week. In addition to weekly sessions, participants must attend:
- 2 social events for the year
- 2 professional development events for the year
- (1) 30-minute individual Leadership Coaching Session during the fall semester
- During the spring semester, students participate in a group Capstone Project which could require group meeting(s) outside of weekly workshops.

Does it cost money to participate in TBLCP?
No – TBLCP is 100% free for all students who participate. Bauer College and the C. T. Bauer Foundation invests in our business students by supporting this program allowing it to be at no cost to participants.
What will I learn in TBLCP?
Here are a few things we focus on that you will learn but are not limited to:
- How to apply leadership theories to real-world contexts
- How to develop emotional intelligence and your leadership style
- What your CliftonStrengths are
- How to enhance communication and collaboration skills
- How to build career readiness and professional confidence
- Public Speaking skills
How do I join?
You fill out and submit an application. The applications open in August but fill out this interest form to make sure you are notified when applications open!
Who is eligible to join this program?
You must meet these requirements:
- Undergraduate business student (pre-business or declared major)
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Have at least one year of college completed. This just means one year on a college campus – whether that was at a four-year university or a community college. Dual Credit and Early College High School do not count.
Can I join TBLCP if I’m in the UH Extend Program?
Yes! We offer a virtual cohort option that meets on Fridays via Zoom as well as virtual socials and professional development opportunities. Please note: there are specific requirements and acknowledgements that must be met to be a part of the virtual cohort.
Do I need any previous leadership experience to participate?
No - everyone can be a leader! Leadership development is a continuous process, and we encourage both those with and those without leadership experience to apply.
Does everyone that applies get accepted into the program?
No – we wish we could accept everyone, but we cannot. To better your chances, make sure to fill out the application honestly. We want to know who you are, what you’re interested in learning, and what kind of dedication you have toward your leadership journey.
What if I cannot commit to a full school year required for this program - Can I still participate?
