Student Life
Life as a doctoral student can be a multitasking juggle, but it is a lot of fun if you are interested in satisfying your intellectual curiosity. In Houston, life extends beyond academics.
Campus Life
Graduate students can choose to live on-campus or off-campus. We offer an on-campus housing facility called the University Lofts, which is 50 meters (55 yards) from Bauer College buildings. It is the newest residential facility on the campus. Here is a link for more information about University Lofts, as well as other residential life and housing information for the university: https://uh.edu/housing/housing-options/university-lofts/.
Doctoral students have a number of options for health insurance for themselves as well as for family members. Please go to https://uh.myahpcare.com/ for more information.
Facilities
Each doctoral student shares an office with one or two other fellow students. Upon arrival, each will receive a personal computer (desktop or laptop, depending on the field of study). The UH Hewlett Packard Enterprise Data Science Institute has state-of-art cluster computing power, with theoretical peak performance of 770 Teraflops provided by 10,000 CPU cores, 45 TB of main memory and 2TB of high bandwidth GPU memory.
The UH Campus Recreation Center has multiple basketball courts, a running track, a climbing wall, weight facilities, an Olympic size swimming pool, all indoor.
