Elif Demirag Burak

Bio

Dr. Elif Demirag Burak is a social and industrial/organizational psychologist specializing in leadership. She earned her Ph.D. from the Leadership Lab at Koc University in Turkey. Her dissertation examined leadership, nonverbal behavior, and impression management and was funded by the UNESCO Chair on Gender Equality and Sustainable Development. She also holds a master's degree in Conflict Resolution. During her doctoral studies, she received the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship and worked as a visiting doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne (HEC Lausanne) in Switzerland.

Before joining the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston, Dr. Burak was a Research Scientist at the Center for Applied Social Research at the University of Oklahoma and later a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology. In these roles, she taught undergraduate courses on leadership, research methods, and industrial/organizational psychology and conducted research on leadership, emotions, and nonverbal behavior. She combines her psychology background with business topics and is interested in helping students and organizations better understand human behavior in professional settings.
