UH Global Energy Management Institute

Our History

The Global Energy Management Institute (GEMI) was developed as a resource specifically for the energy industry through the University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business.

The journey began in 2001 when Arthur Warga was appointed dean of Bauer College. A part of his vision was to engage the energy industry, an important part of the Houston and world economies. The center evolved to offer innovative offerings, including certificate programs focused on energy, as well as numerous symposia and roundtable discussions held yearly.

Now under the leadership of Dean Latha Ramchand, Bauer College is Houston’s resource for education, business solutions and resources related to energy. GEMI has grown to include public policy and law components in addition to its focus on business.
