Excel skills are important for your success in advanced level courses in business and in many careers. The Excel Competency Exam tests whether you are able to use Excel at an intermediate level to analyze data and solve problems.

Students with transfer credit for BCIS 1305/1405 (awarded as transfer credit at UH as MIS 1FOS or MIS 13FS), or who have taken an equivalent computer literacy course at another school must earn a passing score on the Excel Competency Exam as a degree plan filing requirement for Pre-business majors.

For students who take MIS 3300, the Excel Competency Exam is embedded within the course. Earning at least a C in that course means that you have passed the Excel Competency Exam.
