My favorite course was my introduction to computing class I took my freshman year. I enjoyed this course because it was project oriented. Coming in, students were expected to think critically and essentially become problem solvers. I enjoyed working with different teams on projects related to energy and future technology.

I like to stay involved in my role as a corresponding secretary within National Association of Black Accountants. I also serve as a tutor for the Cougars and Houston Area Math Program (CHAMPS). Besides that, I always look for opportunities to volunteer through MVP and at the Houston Food Bank.

Climb the corporate ladder with my MIS or Finance background. Alongside this, I plan to eventually become an actuary. Referring to my previous answer, I have always enjoyed statistics so becoming an actuary just seems like the perfect fit after a few years.

I stay involved on campus as a member of the Spirit of Houston Marching Band 3-4 times a week. I’ll be at the stadium practicing or marching at a football game. I am also a member of the American Marketing Association.

Being a Scholar means that I have lived up to my potential and the expectations placed on me as a child. Take on a business analytics role in a big company as well as give back to the community in my hometown of Beaumont, Texas, that has raised me into the person that I am today. Those two goals are very big, but my ultimate goal after I graduate is to take my mom on a trip around the world because she has worked her whole life to put me and all my siblings through good education and to teach us about love and care for all of humanity.

I am the captain of Love Your Melon, a student-run clothing brand dedicated to supporting pediatric cancer patients and their families. I am also an active member of the Bauer Honors Student Advisory Board, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Honors College Student Governing Board Events Committee.

This scholarship gave me the opportunity to take more classes and strive to complete the Non-Profit Leadership Alliance Certificate. I am also able to be more involved on campus without worrying about having to work so much to make ends meet.

When I’m not in class I stay involved on campus with The American Marketing Association. AMA has been an amazing lifetime experience where the opportunities just don’t stop. Through volunteering opportunities, socials, and networking events I have been able to make a difference in my community and have built lasting relationships with companies. They offer a warm environment, and helped me grow through insightful exposure to different marketing industries.

I am proud to be a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar because every late night I spent studying for exams finally payed off. As a marketing major this scholarship has allowed me to fulfill my goal to launch new products and services that will help UH students and my community find key resources to enhance their education.
