Course Description

This six-day certificate course is for clinical and non-clinical individuals wanting a better understanding of the challenges facing healthcare and the business skills required to excel as new healthcare leaders.

The course will begin by looking at the challenges facing healthcare and the search for value. We will then discuss leadership of self and teams. We will next look at improving quality in healthcare with an overview of quality tools and projects incorporating Lean Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis, and a look at strategies such as evidence-based care, patient-centered care, clinical integration, and population health. In approaching cost concerns in healthcare, we will review essential financial accounting, managerial accounting, finance, and organizational planning and budgeting. We will next look at some of the constraints on healthcare including ethics, health law, medical malpractice, and policy formulation. In our operations module, we will provide an overview of healthcare information, marketing, innovation, and human resources. In our final module, we will survey the healthcare ecosystem and discuss strategy.
