The Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM) plays a key role in advancing logistics and supply chain capabilities in Singapore. During the visit, the group gained insights into Singapore’s logistics success and its positioning as a global gateway through its “Crossroads” strategy. The discussion highlighted the country’s strategic location at the mouth of the Straits of Malacca, a critical shipping lane through which a significant share of global trade passes. It also emphasized Singapore’s role as one of the world’s busiest transshipment hubs, acting as a global “sorting station” for container flows. In addition, the session explored the country’s multi-modal logistics strengths, particularly the integration between the Port of Singapore and Changi Airport, enabling seamless sea–air transfers for high-value goods. This experience provided a valuable perspective on how geographic advantage and infrastructure integration drive global logistics leadership.

The group visited Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, including a walk through the National Orchid Garden, which features a sprawling display of over 60,000 orchid plants. The visit highlighted the country’s commitment to biodiversity and conservation.

The group visited Merlion Park, documenting Singapore’s national symbol, the Merlion, a mythological half-lion, half-fish figure representing the country’s historical and cultural identity. The location also provided a view of Marina Bay, illustrating Singapore’s urban and economic development.

The program concluded with a group farewell lunch, providing an opportunity for participants to reflect on key learnings and share insights from the visit.
