Undergraduate Students

  • Diverse: In 2025, international students at the University of Houston come from more than 127 different countries in the world, making this the most diverse urban university in the nation. International students at Bauer come from more than 75 countries.
  • Intelligent: Bauer business students have an average score of 1295 on the SAT (Fall 2024 entering class).
  • Elite: There are nearly 350 undergraduate business majors in the Honors College (Fall 2025).
  • Hard-working: Over forty percent of our undergraduate students work at least 20 hours per week while they attend college (2024 graduating class).
  • Determined: Many of our undergraduates represent the first generation in their family to attend a university.
  • Large: The Bauer College of Business is one of the largest AACSB - accredited undergraduate business programs in the country, with more than 8,000 undergraduate students enrolled.

MBA Students

  • Experienced:
    • Professional MBA: The mean age at graduation is 36, with an age range of 25-51 (2024-25 graduates)
    • Online MBA: The mean age at graduation is 34, with an age range of 24-52 (2024-25 graduates)
  • Diverse:
    • Professional MBA: 73% of Professional MBA are international or ethnic minority (Fall 2025)
    • Online MBA: 56% of Online MBA are international or ethnic minority (Fall 2025)
  • Working Adults: Over 90% of Professional MBA students are fully employed while they attend the program.

Executive MBA Students

  • Experienced: Executive MBA students at the University of Houston have on average more than 12 years professional experience in diverse backgrounds of industry and professions (Fall 2024 entering class). This brings a unique perspective to the classroom because students learn as much from each other as they do their professors.
  • High Achieving: The students in the Executive MBA are goal oriented individuals who strive for excellence in both their personal and professional lives. This attribute is essential in successfully graduating from the program, due to its intense courses and time frame.
  • Leaders: There are over 2,500 graduates from the University of Houston Executive MBA and many have become influential leaders in their industries and the Houston community.
  • Dedicated: Executive MBA students are dedicated to achieving success at work and in class. They must be organized and manage time and responsibilities to excel in the program.

Doctoral Students

  • Successful: Our doctoral students have recently found placement as faculty in prestigious institutions around the world, including Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Florida International University, HEC Montreal, Louisiana State University, McMaster University, Texas Tech University, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, University of Kansas, and University of Sydney (select placements from 2019-2024)
  • Award Winning: In the last decade, Bauer College doctoral students have won the American Marketing Association (AMA) Sales SIG Doctoral Dissertation Award for best dissertation in the field of selling and sales management (four times), the Academy of Marketing Science Mary Kay Award for best dissertation, the Outstanding Doctoral Student Paper Award from the American Accounting Association Southwest Region, the AMA Sales SIG Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition (three times), the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Accounting Association Governmental and Non-Profit Accounting Section, the Marketing Science Institute (MSI) Alden Clayton Award for best dissertation proposal, and the AMA Marketing Strategy SIG Lisa Scheer Award for Best PhD Student Early-Stage Research Proposal.
  • Purposeful: Prospective doctoral students have well-articulated scholarly intentions that fit with the research interests of current faculty, and are academically prepared to successfully undertake the quantitative demands of the program.
  • Analytical: Ph.D. applicants are admitted on the basis of past academic performance. Applicants usually have demonstrated good quantitative skills.
