The latest opportunity for local entrepreneurs from the UH Small Business Development Center is Fusion Friday, an event series that combines education with networking and allows participants to get business tips in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

In July, the University of Houston Small Business Development Center launched Fusion Fridays, an event series designed for local entrepreneurs that merges education with networking.

Fusion Friday will be held again on the second Friday of both August and September, giving participants the opportunity to mingle with some of Houston’s brightest business owners, interact with SBDC staff and win prizes that will boost their businesses.

“(Attendees) can meet and network with other business owners in an effort to gain leads, increase awareness of their business and make contacts,” SBDC Director of Training Gina Mattei said.

Anyone interested in starting a small business, or those who have already done so, should take advantage of the chance to network with influential business leaders and to discover how SBDC can enhance their operation, she added.

“We help business owners create actionable business plans, prepare loan packages, manage business expansion and secure financing and evaluate and improve marketing techniques,” Mattei said.

The staff provides free training and consulting along with affordable workshops, seminars, specialty programs and a business library. For more information about SBDC, visit www.sbdc.uh.edu.
