Bauer Leadership Initiative Plans Slate of Virtual Engagement Events

Online Events Aimed at Keeping Bauer Students Connected

Published on September 1, 2020

In order to keep students engaged in a now mostly online world, Bauer College’s Leadership & Engagement team is hosting virtual events throughout the fall semester.

The events, which include planned Alumni Coffee Chats, Bauer Bingo Night, Virtual Workouts, Networking Events, Big Bauer Trivia Night, and more, continue the successful “Bauer Summer Series,” developed by the college’s Leadership & Engagement team as a means to continue safely delivering engagement and development opportunities to students, even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alumni Coffee Chat | Sept. 15 | 5 p.m.

The first Alumni Coffee Chat of Fall 2020 will feature Jesus Juarez (BBA ’19). As a student, he was actively involved with the Bauer Ambassadors and the Hispanic Business Student Association. He completed internships with KPMG and Schlumberger.

After graduating, he went to work with KPMG and was able to complete his Master’s in Taxation and Data Analytics at the University of Mississippi as part of his position at KPMG. He now works full-time at KPMG.

In this session, Juarez will share insight about his journey and career path.

Bauer StrengthsQuest Series | Sept. 24 | 5:30 p.m.

In this virtual workshop, students will learn more about the skills that they bring to a team and how to discuss those skills with peers or in interviews.

For this event, all attendees have the opportunity to take the Clifton StrengthsQuest assessment, an internationally recognized assessment that helps participants understand their natural talents. Students will complete the assessment prior to the event, and then will spend the workshop discussing their themes, reflecting, and doing activities with their peers to help them understand their results.

The deadline to register for the event is Wednesday, Sept. 16, by midnight.

Big Bauer Trivia Night | Sept. 28 | 6 p.m.

Big Bauer Trivia Night is full of trivia, making friends and having fun! For this event, students will be split into random teams on Zoom and will compete through three rounds of trivia questions with each round being a different category.

Event registration deadline is Sept. 23.
