Funda Sahin

Bio

Dr. Funda Sahin is an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Houston. Prior to joining the UH faculty. Dr.Sahin served as an Assistant and Associate Professor of Logistics at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Sahin earned her Ph.D. in operations management from the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University. She also holds an MBA degree from Texas A&M University and BA in accounting and finance from Marmara University, Istanbul-Turkey. Dr. Sahin's teaching and research interests are in logistics, operations and supply chain management, inventory planning and control, and information technology applications in supply chain management. Her research publications have appeared in leading operations and supply chain management journals. She also co-authored book chapters. She has been recognized for her research work and received various awards. Dr. Sahin consistently presents in academic/professional societies. She has been an invited speaker at many academic conferences and industry sponsored meetings. Dr. Sahin has consulted with various firms including Nissan, Peerless Pump, Estee Lauder, Cummins Filtration, Tyco Electronics and Boise Paper among others. She was also a research associate for the Information Systems Consortium for Supply Chain Integration, Thomas A. Read Center, Texas A&M University. She also served as an active member and a faculty advisor for the Supply Chain Forum of the University of Tennessee. Dr. Sahin is an active member and Immediate Past President of Decision Sciences Institute (DSI). She is also an active member and a Vice-President of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). Dr. Sahin has taught/teaches at the undergraduate, graduate (masters and doctoral) and executive levels. She also served as the Supply Chain Management Doctoral Program Coordinator at Bauer College of Business.
