UH, Rice are top schools for entrepreneurship. Can Houston follow?

Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine on Tuesday selected the University of Houston as the No. 1 undergraduate school for entrepreneurship studies and Rice University as the No. 1 school for graduate programs, marking the first time both schools have received the top spot and the only time a region other than Boston has taken No. 1 in both categories.

The Princeton Review bumped UH’s Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship one place up from last year’s rankings, dethroning the University of Michigan for best undergraduate entrepreneurship program.

2 Houston universities top list for best graduate, undergraduate entrepreneurship programs

The University of Houston's Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship within the C. T. Bauer College of Business claimed the top spot on the 2020 Princeton Review's top 15 programs for undergraduate entrepreneurship studies. Meanwhile, Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business claimed the top spot on the graduate schools list.

PolarPanel Team Masters Business Plan for NASA’s Solar Refrigeration Technology

Solar-powered refrigeration has been a winner at business plan competitions across the country, driven by a team from the University of Houston and the business plan the team created to commercialize a technology developed by NASA.

The PolarPanel team competed in nine competitions, winning five and taking home more than $45,000 in cash prizes, money that they will use to fund building the third-generation prototype and testing.

The business plan project is part of the curriculum at the nationally ranked Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the C. T. Bauer College of Business and pairs teams of students with technologies that may be ripe for commercialization.
