Certificate in Accountancy (CAP)

Students are eligible to apply for the Certificate in Accountancy upon successful completion of minimum 10 CAP 5000 level courses with a letter grade of “C” or better.

Certificates of Concentration in Internal Audit and Oil & Gas

Oil and Gas and Internal Audit courses are not approved by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA) to fulfill the 30 hours of advanced accounting requirement towards CPA eligibility. However, those courses will count towards the 150 hours of college credit requirement.

  • Each certificate requires completion of “3” courses and “1” colloquium listed specifically for the each certificate.
  • A minimum letter grade of "C" is required for each course.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for all three courses.
  • A letter grade of "S" is required for the colloquium.

Request for the CAP Certificate

If this is your final semester in CAP and you have completed at least 10 (ten) courses in the CAP at the 5000 level with a letter grade of "C" or better, you are eligible for the certificate.

To request the certificate, please fill out the web form at https://www.bauer.uh.edu/acctcert/.

Certificate requests will be processed after grades for the semester are posted. Certificates are usually mailed 4-6 weeks after the final grades are posted to the student’s record.
