Accounting Scholarship Information

The Department of Accountancy & Taxation Scholarship Application is available for undergraduate accounting majors, students in the Certificate in Accountancy Program (CAP), and students in the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSACCY) Program.

Scholarships

The scholarship application for Spring 2024 is now available!

The application is available at the start of each academic year (i.e. fall) and submitted application data is archived at the end of the academic year (i.e. summer). The timeline is outlined below.

  • During the fall, students have the ability to create a user account and submit an application.
  • In the spring, students who submitted an application in the fall will need to update and resubmit their application to be considered for scholarships awarded in the spring; students who did not apply during fall may create a user account (if not created during the fall) and submit an application in the spring.
  • At the end of the academic year (i.e. summer), submitted applications will be archived, and students will need to create a new user account and submit a new application to be considered for future scholarship opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements

The Department of Accountancy & Taxation Scholarship Application is only open to declared and enrolled accounting undergraduate majors or students enrolled in the CAP or MSACCY programs. In addition to students in the traditional (in-person) programs, students pursuing the Online BBA in Accounting or Online MSACCY through UH Extend may be eligible for certain need-based scholarships through the Department of Accountancy and Taxation.

A 3.5 cumulative GPA is required for students in the traditional or online BBA in Accounting or the traditional or online MSACCY Program.

Students who are enrolled in CAP must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and have at least 9 hours of CAP accounting courses completed.

External Scholarships

Submitted applications may also be considered for external scholarship opportunities available through one of our business partners or organizations. Eligibility requirements and deadlines vary for each external scholarship.

General

  • You can apply by submitting the completed Department of Department of Accountancy & Taxation Scholarship Application.

  • Yes, declared and enrolled accounting students in the Online BBA or Online MSACCY offered through UH Extend may be eligible for various need-based scholarships offered by the accounting department as well as scholarships available from external accounting organizations/partners.

  • You may submit the online application at any time for departmental scholarships. The earlier you apply, the more scholarships there are available and the more for which you will be considered. Please note, if you apply for scholarships in the fall, you must update and resubmit your application every spring semester to be considered for scholarships awarded in the spring. You will also need to create a new user account and submit a new application each fall.

    You may only submit the department scholarship application once per semester.

  • The application is available for students in the traditional (in-person) or online BBA Accounting and MSACCY programs. CAP students may also apply. Scholarship applicants in the BBA Accounting and MSACCY programs must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA; CAP students must also have a 3.5 cumulative GPA with at least 9 hours of CAP accounting courses completed.

  • You will need to be a declared and enrolled accounting major or enrolled in the CAP or MSACCY program before you can apply.

  • Yes. International students who have been accepted into Bauer College are eligible to apply for scholarships.

  • Students who do not meet eligibility requirements detailed under “Eligibility Requirements” will not be considered for scholarships until the requirements are met. However, students admitted for spring who apply for scholarships before the start of their first semester may update and resubmit their applications once spring grades post to be considered for any scholarships that may be awarded for summer.

  • Since not all scholarships are up for review at the same time, the submitted applications are reviewed when there are scholarships that become available. Students will only be contacted if they are selected for a scholarship.

Application Process

  • You will need access to your prior grades and GPA.

  • Two letters of recommendation from professors and/or supervisors are required. These recommendations are gathered electronically through the electronic system. You will be required to enter an e-mail address for your recommender which will allow an online form to automatically be sent to your recommender. The recommenders have the option to upload a letter in addition to submitting the recommendation form.

  • Yes, the application can be saved and resumed later within the same semester. Applications submitted during the fall will need to be updated and resubmitted to be considered for spring. Students will need to create new user accounts and applications at the start of each fall semester.
