Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts" by Winston Churchill is my favorite quote. This quote motivates me and encourages me to keep working hard even after reaching my goals. It reminds me that facing failures doesn't mean to give up but should use different approaches to reach your goals and learn from those failures. Whether I face a success or a failure I always think about this quote and keep moving on with determination and motivation.

This program has impacted my life in a multitude of ways. First off, it has allowed me to graduate on time without any financial burden, which is typically unheard of as a college graduate. Secondly, it taught me an important lesson of generosity. Because I have been endowed with such a generous scholarship and able to explore special opportunities because of it, I would like to pay it forward to other young college graduates who are looking for support financially or in non-monetary means. Most of all, it has given me a spirit of appreciation, immense gratitude, and respect for all the donors and helpers who contributed to my success as a Bauer graduate.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"I wish to preach, not the doctrine of ignoble ease, but the doctrine of the strenuous life, the life of toil and effort, of labor and strife; to preach that highest form of success which comes, not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not shrink from danger, from hardship, or from bitter toil, and who out of these wins the splendid ultimate triumph." -

President Teddy Roosevelt Strenuous Life speech, Chicago 1899 this quote is the opening message to the crowd. The quote makes me want to overcome hardships and take on the 'strenuous life'.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"She believed she could, so she did."

This quote has been my motivation throughout my college experience. I even have it as my phone screensaver. It emphasizes how one should believe in your own abilities and skills to get something done, especially something that others say you cannot accomplish. There were many instances during the past four years that I felt I could not get through school, for example after a bad test grade, but I would read my phone screensaver and it would remind me that I can and will get through it, and I did.

Q. How has this program impacted your life?

Ease a tremendous amount of financial burden, allowed me to focus on school and partake in organizations like the Asian Student Business Association. I believe that being a part of an organization and growing with it was one of the key things that employers look for. One of the main reasons for that is because by joining an organization this is where all your stories for your interviews will come from. Dealing with conflicts within the organization, taking charge in organizing and event, or even networking are all skills that you will need to be successful in an organization and in the real world. Because of the Ted Bauer Undergraduate Scholar program, I was able to take part in all of this and hone these skills for my interview and be successful in the real world.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"It is our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." - JK Rowling.

I read this quote when I was eight years old, from the first Harry Potter novel, and from that day, I had always had a deep resonation with what the quote symbolizes. To this day, I actively think about the decisions I make. Whether they are small or large, the choices I make are consequentially the ultimate defining factor of my character. Because of that, I'm always compelled to think twice before committing to any action. At the end of the day, we are all dealt a different hand of cards in life. But what truly sets us apart from others is how we choose to handle and create decisions based off what we are given."

Q. How has this program impacted your life?

After graduating from UH the greatest asset that I have taken away is the leaderships skills that I have gained from the TBLCP program. After working on multiple projects I have learned how to influence others to a path that brings about success in their lives and also allows success in the lives of others. Another impact that this program had on me is that I have learned how important it is to always strive to attain new knowledge. By focusing on growing myself I have gained the ability to foster growth among others that I am involved with on a daily basis. This way the actions they take are driven by a bigger purpose.

Q. What is your favorite quote? Why?

"Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. It’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere." - Barack Obama

I truly believe how I have reacted to my life's failures and/or setbacks has molded my future and created opportunities that even with talent, intelligence, or luck I would not have had otherwise. I also believe that in every TBUB Scholar I have met I have witnessed a spirit of perseverance that inspires and pushes those around them to persevere as well.
