Military Community at Bauer

We appreciate the value and leadership that our veteran students bring to our Master of Science in Accountancy (MSACCY) Program. Military service experience truly enhances the MSACCY classroom, and Bauer’s diverse and welcoming environment is a perfect fit for our veterans who are enhancing their careers or re-entering the civilian workforce.

We are privileged to serve our military members by providing them individualized career counselling and coaching, networking opportunities, support through our graduate financial aid advisor, and assistance with military and veteran education benefits through University Veteran Services.

Scholarship & Financial Aid

Scholarships: All currently enrolled veterans in the Bauer College of Business, as well as incoming and transfer veterans who have been accepted to the College, are eligible to apply for Bauer College scholarships. The Bauer College Scholarship Application is available online.

Post-9/11 GI Bill: Individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 continuous days on active duty, are eligible to participate in the Post-9/11 GI Bill. The percentage of eligibility ranges from 40% - 100%. You must also be on Active Duty or a Veteran with an honorable discharge to be eligible. The Veterans Affairs Post-9/11 GI Bill Percentage of Eligibility Chart will assist you in determining your percentage of eligibility.

Hazlewood Act: The Hazlewood Act provides qualified veterans, spouses, and children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition and fee exemptions at state supported colleges or universities. For more information and to determine if you are eligible to receive support through the Hazlewood Act, visit the Hazlewood Act page.

Non-Resident Tuition Waivers: An additional military waiver available to those eligible for veterans educational benefits is an immediate waiver of non-resident tuition to the veteran, spouse and dependent children who move to Texas. This program permits non-resident MSACCY students to pay tuition and fees at the resident rate. More information on eligibility and applying for this waiver is available on the College For All Texans military waivers website.

Application Fee Waiver: Candidates who are currently serving, or have served, in any of the five branches of the US military will automatically receive a waiver for the application fee. Please contact us at applymsaccy@uh.edu for more information.
