Bauer Builds Financial Literacy
Bauer College EXPLORE Financial Empowerment Institute Strengthens Financial Literacy Across Communities, Families

This summer, Bauer College hosted select 9th, 10th and 11th graders on campus for the EXPLORE Financial Empowerment Institute.
The four-day camp provided high school students with information on essential topics on personal financial planning, including money management, budgeting and goal setting, led by Bauer finance faculty, students and business professionals.
“We hold this camp every summer to give participants the chance to explore financial careers in business and also to provide college access,” Academic Advisor II Amber Jones said. “We found many students aren’t aware of what colleges are offering or what careers they could go into. High school students also take the information they gain from the camp and bring it back to their communities.”
Jones added: “We have an ‘each one, teach one’ philosophy, where we teach to them in the classroom by our business professors, and they can take it back to their communities and families, empowering a whole area in financial literacy.”
