The GEM Track in Finance

The GEM Track in Finance program is a complete undergraduate education in energy business culminating in a BBA in Finance. GEM Track in Finance is a specialization of the traditional BBA in Finance which gives graduates the leading edge when entering the energy job market. Students of the GEM Track in Finance program are finance majors who take a series of pre-selected energy business electives in their junior and senior years. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a BBA in Finance with a GEM specialization.

 

GEM Track Curriculum

Students enrolled in the GEM Track in Finance must meet the regular BBA requirements for finance majors, specifically completing the following requirements within the major:

GEM Track in Finance (24 hours):

 

3.0 Hours:  FINA 4320  Investment Management

3.0 Hours:  FINA 4330  Corporate Finance

12.0 Hours:  GEM Finance Electives

Students must complete 12 credit hours of Energy-Related (GEM) Finance Electives.  Any FINA Elective with the words "Energy" or "Oil" in the course title may be used for GEM Finance requirements.  Other acceptable courses are FINA 4350 (Options and Futures), FINA 4351 (Futures and Swaps), and FINA 4360 (International Financial Management).

6.0 Hours:  GEM-Approved Advanced Business Electives

Select two courses from the following list:  ACCT 3367 (Intermediate Accounting I), ACCT 4378 (Oil and Gas Accounting), and SCM 4390 (Energy Supply Chain.
