3 Day Startup Competition Open to All UH Students

As technology continues to advance rapidly, the need for new products and businesses to keep pace is greater than ever. The C. T. Bauer College of Business is answering the call with 3 Day Startup (3DS), an event on campus open to all University of Houston students that puts participants in a team environment over a weekend as they build the idea for new technology businesses.
Hosted by the college’s Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, the event will be held on April 19-21. Online applications are open, with a need for students to serve in business, design, coding, advertising and legal roles. Over the course of the event, students will form teams to start technology companies and present their business plans to investors in a culminating round of pitches.
Founded in 2008 at the University of Texas, 3DS is an entrepreneurship program in which university students launch tech companies over an intense three-day session. In four years, 3DS has gone viral: More than 20 events on four continents have resulted in 16 companies and $4 million in startup capital.
“Bauer has one of the top entrepreneurship programs in the nation, and we're committed to supporting an entrepreneurial culture throughout the university,” said Hesam Panahi, Bauer clinical assistant professor for the Department of Decision & Information Sciences and organizer of the event. “Events like 3 Day Startup allow us to showcase the work of talented UH student entrepreneurs as they build companies over the course of a weekend.”
The deadline to apply for 3DS is March 22, 2013.
