MBA Future Leader Mentoring Program (FLMP)

The Leadership Initiative Board hosted a luncheon in December 2011 for the Executive Partners and Future Leaders participating in the Department of Management’s Future Leader Mentoring Program. The luncheon provided an opportunity for Executive Partners and Future Leaders to share best practices for optimizing their mentoring relationships. The group received feedback that the program, launched in 2011, is a huge success, with participants lauding the mentoring process and its outcomes. The Future Leaders felt privileged to have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills with one-on-one mentoring. The program will continue through Spring 2012, and a new cohort of Bauer MBA students will be selected for the Fall 2012 FLMP.

The Fall 2011-Spring 2012 group includes Executive Partners: Bruce Levine, Lorraine Grubbs, Al Bolea, Leslie Farnsworth, Wayne Malik, Mark Gregg, Jim Hamilton, Kenneth Guidry, Rich Walsh, Jo Dravis, William Holt, and Courtney Claiborne, as well as Future Leaders: Jesus Guerra, Allison Blankenship, Brinson Joseph, Nnaemeka Akpunonu, Kelly Herndon, Zane Corbin, Kate Turner, Saikat Basu, Kristen Blagg, Mehul Shah, Jeremy Golden and Angela Mestre.

“Be Great”: Entrepreneur Peter Thomas Visits UH Bauer

In addition, in 2010, the UH Bauer Leadership Initiative Board was proud to host Century 21 Real Estate Canada founder Peter Thomas, also author of “Be Great: The Five Foundations of an Extraordinary Life,” for a three-day visit to campus in November as part of his Be Great America Book Tour. During his stop at UH Bauer, Thomas toured Melcher Hall and met with college administrators, spoke to several graduate and undergraduate student classes, held a book signing and spoke at a LifePilot workshop, part of a program he designed to help participants align their values with their goals to chart out a course for action. Proceeds from Thomas’ book sales in the area will benefit student scholarships. Read more.
