Class Presentacion (FINA 4360)

You will be part of a group of three students. You will present, discuss and solve a case based on a news article in class. The cases will be distributed in class -though you can download some news articles from this homepage. Each student in the group should know what the other students in his or her group are talking about. I will evaluate the presentation of the group in three areas: solution of the case, compactness and ability to answer questions. I will ask questions during your presentation.

Chris Campassi, a student during the Fall 1995 semester, said about the newspaper article presentation: "Studying and preparing for the presentation is where one really learns."

Guidelines for the presentation
  • The presentation should not last more than 15 minutes.
  • Summarize the news article at the begining of the presentation. Relate the situation described by the article to the concepts discussed in the Chapter.
  • This is a group presentation: each student in the group should know what the other members are saying.

    Tips for a good presentation
  • It's OK to be nervous. Plan in advance what you're going to say.
  • Use power point or transparencies to help your presentation. Large fonts (16 or larger) are a must. If you use dark backgrounds, you should use clear colors for the text.
  • On the power point slides or transparencies write only the key points. Do not write a complete answer.
  • Graphs, tables, numerical examples, etc., usually are very useful to make a point.
  • When you talk, don't block the screen. If you are using transparencies, move away from the overhead projector. If you want to point something on the transparency, get a pointer. Or just stand by the screen and point something on the screen.
  • When you talk, try to establish eye contact with everybody in your audience. Don't talk looking only at one person (for example, your professor).
  • Very important: Do not read your answer.
