WANs may span hundreds or thousands of miles =>
circuits for MANs and WANs are often rented from common carriers such as AT&T, MCI, BellSouth, PACTEL, or NYNEX.
Types of communication services include
- private circuit services (a fixed monthly fee based on distance)
- measured use services (fee based on duration, distance and tariff)
