Biography


Keith Cox is the Conn Appliance Faculty Fellow at the University of Houston. He received a BBA in Accounting, a MBA, and a Ph. D. in Marketing, all from the University of Texas. He has taught International Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Research and Principles of Marketing. Professor Cox has published ten different books and monographs. His research publications include Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Public Opinion Quarterly, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Advertising Research, and Journalism Quarterly. Professor Cox was the national president of the American Marketing Association in 1979-1980. He served on an advisory committee for the Bureau of the Census in Washington D.C. from 1991 to 1997. Professor Cox served as chair of the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Department at the University of Houston from 1981 to 1996. He received the University of Houston Amoco Teaching Award in 1990 and Melcher Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards in 1989 and 2008. At the University of Houston, he administered a United Nations program for the Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou Institutes of Foreign Trade during 1990-1992. He taught in the Madrid Business School in 1990 and in Texas Business School consortium exchange program in London 1993. In 1980, Professor Cox received the Marketing Man of the Year award from the Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association. He received an Outstanding Business School Alumni Award from the University of Texas in 1979. In 1996, he was appointed as the Conn Appliance Faculty Fellow at the University of Houston. In 1998, he was appointed Interim Dean of the College of Business Administration for one year. He was awarded the Wayne Lemburg Award for distinguished service by AMA in 2003.
