Financial Coordinator I
Cathy Hutzell's career path leading her to UH Bauer has been a diverse and colorful one. Cathy is a Penn State University graduate in Music Education and holds certification to teach music in the public school system, K-12. She also completed 3 years of graduate studies in vocal performance and taught voice and voice classes as a graduate student while attending. Cathy was honored for this opportunity, because only a select few of the many graduate students attending are given the opportunity to teach while studying.
Cathy has toured Pennsylvania and parts of Europe singing with select musical groups. Cathy has also performed with several community theatre groups and opera societies.
She was once told by a mathematics professor that all musicians are latent mathematicians, so that might account for some of the varied career path. Besides substitute teaching in several school districts in PA, she has worked in ticket sales, graphic design, as a bank teller, bookkeeper/assistant accountant, a fast foods restaurant manager, an administrative clerk, and a staff assistant for Penn State Outreach's World Campus and Finance Dept.
Cathy has been with Bauer since 2008, when she packed up everything and took a leap of faith moving to Houston.
Cathy recently was asked to begin teaching voice at The Atascocita School of Music. Her students range in age from 5 years to adult. You've got to have variety.
