Admission Information

Dear Parents:

Thank you for your interest in the Post Oak School. We are the oldest accredited Montessori school in the Southwest, and are nationally recognized for our exemplary program and facility.

If you choose the Post Oak School for your child, we recommend that you enroll him/her as young as possible in order to take advantage of the crucial sensitive periods of learning which occur between birth and five years of age.

The Infant Community is designed for children 14 months to 3 years of age. The teachers, who are specifically trained to work with this age group, provide a safe, supportive environment scaled to the young child's needs and stimulating to the learning process required for future academic skills.

The Primary Program is a three-year program, and the optimal time to enter is between 2 1/2 and 3 years of age. Children remain in Primary through age six. We have found that children who have not had the three year experience at the Primary level are at a disadvantage when they move to the Elementary level. Consequently, children four and five years old without prior Montessori experience are considered for admission on an individual basis.

Our Upper School consists of three levels: Lower Elementary, for ages 6 through 9; Upper Elementary, for ages 9 through 12; and Middle School, for ages 12 through 14. Applicants for admission to the Upper School are considered on an individual basis. Although prior Montessori experience is considered a prerequisite, this requirement may be waived, upon recommendations of the Head of School and the classroom teacher.

The Post Oak School offers Before and After School Programs at each level. Enrichment classes as well as private musical instruction are also available. Please click here for details.

We encourage interested parents to visit the school and tour the facilities with the Director of Admission. Please contact the Admission Office to schedule your visit.

The next step in the admission process is to submit a completed application form with the $100.00 application fee (non-refundable). A $500.00 tuition deposit is required upon acceptance.

Thank you for considering The Post Oak School.

Kay Burkhalter
Director of Admission
