[this death place can't be right --- this thing doesn't make sense!]
this makes a LOT more sense:
Georg Adam Brecht probably accompanied his brothers to Frederick County, Virginia, about 1753, where he met and married Maria Katharina KAUFELDT (17 Jun 1733 - c1798), daughter of Johann Nicolaus Kaufeldt and Anna Grundt.. He was back in Lancaster County, PA, in April, 1754, to sell some land he inherited from his father. He was living in Baltimore County, Maryland, or York County, Pennsylvania, when his oldest son was born in 1756, but moved to Frederick County, Virginia in the summer of 1759, receiving land grants there in 1761 and 1765. It was at that time he started calling himself George Adam Bright. The other members of the Brecht Family gradually started using the name Bright, so that by the time of the Revolution, they were known as the Bright Family. George bought 170 acres in Beverly Manor, Augusta County, Virginia, in May 1767, and was granted land near South Mountain in southern Augusta County in 1781 and in 1787. He is listed on the tax lists in Augusta County from 1782 to 1804. George and Catharina attended St John's Reformed Church in Middlebrook. George and made his will 14 Apr 1804, which was proved 25 Jun 1805. He is buried in Dutch Hollow Cemetery west of Greenville. George and Catherine had nine children:
The information on the Brecht Family is from The Bright Family of Pennsylvania, by Heber Gessler Gearhart, an undated manuscript at the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. It refers to a paper Historical Sketch of the Bright Family by A G Green, presented to the Historical Society of Berks County and published in their journal in November, 1900. This information has been supplemented with information from the Brecht/Bright Discussion group at Yahoo.
Also above conforms to this from Handbook of Texas:
BRIGHT, DAVID (1770–1837). David Bright, one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred colonists, was born in Augusta County, Virginia, in 1770. He married Judith Dinsmore on June 6, 1799, in Virginia. Bright and his family came to Texas from Illinois and Arkansas in 1822 and landed near the mouth of the Colorado River. On December 20, 1823, he voted in the alcalde election at San Felipe. He was one of the electors in the Colorado District in April 1824, when the Baron de Bastrop was chosen Texas delegate to the state convention of Coahuila and Texas. In 1823 and 1824 he cut brush for the chainmen of surveyor Horatio Chriesman in the Oyster Creek area of Fort Bend County. On May 10, 1824, Bright and his wife agreed that their daughter Betsy might marry Noel Roberts, and on May 24 their daughter Mary signed a marriage bond with Gabriel Straw Snider. One daughter had already married Eli Hunter, another of the Old Three Hundred. On July 15, 1824, Bright received title to a league of land on Oyster Creek in what is now eastern Fort Bend County and a labor of land that later became part of Austin County. The census of 1826 classified Bright as a farmer and stock raiser aged over fifty. His household then included his wife, a son, and a daughter. In April 1836 the Bright family and the Reels family camped near Liberty during the Runaway Scrape. Bright died on September 2, 1837. His daughter Mary Bright Snider, evidently a widow by 1837, married Patrick Reels on November 25 of that year.
Above page shows ancestry of David Bright and his father George Adam Brecht (in reverse order) starting with George Adam Brecht as:
Conrad "Kunst" Brecht (c1563-c1612) married about 1584 Catrina (c.1569). He was perhaps born at Lindenfels, Hessen, with connections to Rohrbach. They lived at Neudorf, Baden, near Karlsruhe, in the Palatinate of Germany. This poor parish belonged to the Prince-Bishop of Speyer, and remained Catholic when the rest of the region became Protestant on 1 June 1556 under Margrave Karl II of Baden-Durlach. In the seventeenth century, the village of Neudorf was "several times laid to ashes," and also repeatedly suffered famine, typhus, and plague, so that by 1688, only eight families remained, Brecht not among them. Kunst and Catrina had eight known children:

Catherine MONTGOMERY
•Sex: F
•Birth: 1684 in Londonderry, Ireland
•Death: 1 FEB 1760 in Long Canes Creek, Abbeville District, South Carolina
•Note:
Patrick Calhoun first settled near Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was here he married Jane Craighead in 1750. There was no issue from this marriage. They then settled on the border of Cherokee country along the Long Canes Creek in the South Carolina Upcountry, near present day Abbeville, in 1756. Four years later Patrick’s wife, brother and two aunts were slain in the Long Canes Massacre, one of the bloody skirmishes accompanying the French and Indian war (1754-1763). An account of the immigration and fighting follows:
"The Calhoun clan came from Donegal, Ireland in 1733 and dwelled in western Pennsylvania. John C. Calhoun was a five year old boy. They were Scotch-Irish, taught by Calvinistic Presbyterianism to regard life as a battle against evil. Growing up on the frontier, fighting Indians most of his adult life, Patrick embodied the rough and resolute character of the race. Driven by Indian warfare and drawn by the vision of a land of plenty over the horizon, the Calhoun’s moved steadily southward along the mountain barrier, down the Shenandoah Valley to Augusta, to the New River in southwest Virginia, then to the Waxhaws at the border separating the Carolinas. He married his first wife, Jane Craighead in 1750. The saga of the Calhoun migration ended in 1756 when Patrick, his brothers, and their families settled in the Long Canes Creek region bordering Cherokee country. In 1760, during the French and Indian war, Patrick Calhoun and a handful of companions fought off a Cherokee raiding party for many hours, until finally forced to retreat before overwhelming numbers. Returning to bury the dead three days later, Patrick found among the massacred bodies, his widowed mother and eldest brother. Several women and children of the settlement had been carried into captivity. When peace came, Patrick gave up fighting for surveying and farming." (Note: other sources indicates Patrick’s first wife was killed in the massacre).

Son of William Goode. Billups, "Goode Bible". He was the younger son.
Forsythe; Blankenship;
Pronounced "Goude" to rhyme with mood--- (in VA in 1997)
Mack Jr family had 8 whites in 1782 census; Mack Jr. meant not that his
father was named Mack, but that there was a previous Mack Goode in
Charlotte Co area--probably his father's brother;
Charlotte Co Deed Book 2: 149, 7 Mar 1769, Wm Goode of Charlotte Co gives to
Mackerness Goode his son, of same [Charlotte] Co.; This is clearly supported
by the naming of Mack Jr's boys Edward (presumably after his father-in-law
(Edward Moseley b. ca 1730 ) and then William, presumably after his own father
(bible transcript cited in Sept 96 Nat Gen Soc Quarterly below); (birth order
may also be from George Brown Goode book below) George Brown Goode, Virginia
Cousins (Harrisonburg VA: C.J. Carrier, 1981) (originally published ca. 1892)
pages 34, 41, 51, 99,121 is correct for Mack's descendants but apparently
wrong about his father (on page 40 he says his assignment of a father for Mack
Jr is "tentative", so he must not have seen any direct evidence; see his
wife's family Bible cited in following NGSQ article. For documentation see
Warren L. Forsythe, "Resolving Conflict between Records: A Spurious Moseley
Bible," National Genealogical Society Quarterly 84 No.3 (Sept 1996):
182-199;
Gerald T. Gilliam, editor of the Charlotte Co. Hist and Genealogy publication
told me 1 Jan 1997 that Mack Goode Jr lived in Public Fork area of Charlotte
Co. at about time (before or after) he married Mary Moseley 1770; Letter from
Forsythe to Blankenship:
Dear Gayle,
I enclose what I have of the evidence you cite for Mack Goode's father being
named Mack. Ligon doesn't cite any documents other than Mack's will, which is
not likely to tell his parentage. I doubt Mrs. Evan's document #3203 cites
specific evidence either, but the fact that she gives a residence for Mack Sr
is something encouraging. One might think she found evidence in the 1770
marriage record, but I enclose what I believe is the only extant public
marriage record--on frame 064 of Library of VA reel 42, the Charlotte Co Marr
bonds. It just refers to Mack Goode Jr and John? Osborne bondsmen for
marriage of Mack Goode Jr to Mary Moseley. Presumably there was originally a
release for under age Mary to be married, but I believe that the evidence is
that, if so, that is no longer publically extant.
Finally I discuss the other evidence in my "Individual Data sheet). The
page 40 of Goode genealogy says Mack Jr.s assignment as a child of which ever
of the Goode brothers is "provisional" indicating he had no definitive
evidence which brother was father. The birth order (of Mack Jr's children)
argument for Wm as father of Mack Jr's comes from birth order in Goode bible
transcript made 1893 in Missouri and cited in my Sept 1996 NGSQ article.
In summary I could be wrong, but the evidence seemed stronger for Wm as
father, and perhaps most importantly the Deed Bk 2:149 evidence that Mack's
father might've been Wm had lain pretty much ignored for 225 years. So I felt
it was important to call the readers' attention to the existence of that
document, even if the document proves ultimately to have been deceptive to us.;

however standard books published ca 1990 on baptisms in Barbados records do not
list any Goode baptisms during 1650's. There might be good reasons for this.
One reason is that the baptisms for most of year 1651 had been lost from
currently available Barbados records. But by the way, just thought I should
mention that I was surprised not to find any Goode (& many similar spellings
checked) baptism during 1650's--indeed virtually none in 1600s at all!;

John, the patriarch of his Texas family, originated in Walpole, New Hampshire, then moved to
Charleston, S. C. about 1811. It was there that he and Martha Milner were united in marriage
by the Rev. Dr. Hollingshead. In 1818 John moved his family to Lincoln County, Tennessee.
There the family grew to a total of ten children. In 1835, they moved to Madisonville,
Mississippi. Although the town disappeared into history long ago, it was located in one
of the richest farming areas in the state and for a time was the county seat of Madison
County. It was there that John's wife, Martha, died in 1836, apparently from complications
with the birth of their last child, Charles Marcos. The infant also passed away approximately
two months later. According to Texas land records, John moved his family to Matagorda County, Texas
in 1840. He lived there until 1847, then moved to San Antonio. It was about 1858 that John
moved to Wilson County on the Cibolo River, near Stockdale. One son, Daniel, remained in
Matagorda County, farming, ranching, and raising a family of his own. During his lifetime,
John had several occupations including that of school teacher, surveyor, brick maker, and
Justice of the Peace. While serving as Justice of the Peace in Matagorda County, he presided
over the marriages of some of his children, Daniel to Lavinia Hunter in 1842, Martha Ann
to James W. Keller in 1843, and Emeline to James Pirie in 1844. His burial site is on what
was once the farm of his eldest son, David Thwing Wheeler. It is located in Wilson County,
approximately five miles South of Stockdale. It was near here that he spent his later years,
working around the family farm and living with various family members. He was buried with
the customary Masonic honors of the Brahan Lodge of Lavernia. In 1858 and 1859, John had
served as the very first tiler of the lodge while his son in law, John Rhodes King, served
as Worshipful Master. At the time of his death, John was reported to be the oldest Mason
in Texas. (Ref. "A Century of Light - History of the Brahan Lodge #226 by D. L. Vest.)

BURIAL UNKNOWN
Martha and her infant son, Charles Marcos, are buried in the area of Madisonville,
Mississippi, an early village which has disappeared into history. The precise locations
of the graves are unknown. After extensive research and two trips to the Madisonville
area, family member James Carroll Wheeler has been unable to locate the grave sites.
Martha was the wife of John Wheeler (1786-1867) who is buried in Wheeler Cemetery,
Wilson County, Texas. She had previously married William Niven in Charleston, S.C.
during 1809, however, the marriage was cut short by William's loss at sea on January 20, 1810.
Still in Charleston, Martha then married John Wheeler on November 3, 1811, and it was
there that first son, David Thwing and first daughter, Emeline were born. Two more sons
were born later but died in infancy. From South Carolina, the family, including stepfather,
David Thwing and mother, Martha Wood Milner Thwing moved to Fayetteville, Tennessee about
1818. There, Martha gave birth to eight more children, before the family moved to Madisonville,
Mississippi in 1835. This began the part of the Wheeler Family that eventually settled in
South Texas during the 1840s. Although Martha was the Matriarch of her Texas family, she never
saw Texas. She passed away in Madisonville on June 13,1836, six days after the birth of
child number thirteen, Charles Marcos. The infant also succumbed approximately two months
after his mother. In 1840 John brought the rest of the family to Texas, first living in
Matagorda County, then moving to San Antonio in 1847, and finally settling in the Stockdale
area about 1858. John never remarried.

notes from mary **********************************************************************************
Ed's maternal grandfather has a mystery, too. I am dying to know this story, but probably never will.
He was born Esca William Heasley. His parents were William Thomas Heasley and Mary Germima (Mima) Vick. The family lived in Parker County, Texas, in a very small city called Whitt. I've been there. There's not much to it. When he was about 20 years old, he leaves Texas, changes his name to Dell Edward Heasley, goes by Ed, and moves to Muskegon, Michigan. There he met and married Virginia Meeske. The Meeske family owned and operated several breweries - around the time of Prohibition. They also owned a biscuit company. Virginia and Ed's first child was a girl, and they named her Adelle. When I visited Whitt, the road from Whitt to the freeway took me past a town named "Adelle." It really made me wonder if he had something going on in the city of Adelle that caused him to change his name and leave the state! Ed's aunt claims that she knows the full story but refuses to tell. I surely hope I can get it out of her before she dies. I'm dying to know. Sometime between their marriage (1936) and 1942, Ed and Virginia moved to Houston. He did not return to Whitt as far as I can tell.
If your run across an Esca William in the census records, it is the same as Ed Heasley later.
I also found some Vick family member who have generously shared genealogy information with me on the Vick side of the family. I haven't found any fun Meeske relatives yet.
