Director of Communications
Jessica is a proud Cougar who has played a number of roles at the University of Houston, from student to two-time alumna and now staff member, as director of communications at Bauer College. In this position, she leads all integrated communication and creative efforts to build brand awareness and reputation of Bauer College and oversees a talented group of communication professionals who handle the college’s Web site, printed publications, video production, photography, media relations, advertising, marketing and social media. Jessica loves exploring the UH campus, particularly the three Starbucks locations and all of the new buildings that have popped up since her days as an undergrad in the early 2000s. She joined the Bauer staff in 2007 as communications manager; before that, she was a reporter at The Baytown Sun. Jessica earned her master’s degree in mass communication and public relations from (where else?) the University of Houston. She is a new mother, and in her spare time, she takes iPhone photos of her son and marvels at his cuteness. She also likes going to concerts with her husband, Michael, a two-time alumnus of the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She was born and mostly raised in South Louisiana and thinks Mardi Gras should be a national holiday.
Amanda graduated from Sam Houston State University in May 2010, with a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in English. Her career began at KSHU, the student-run radio station on the Sam Houston campus, in 2008 as on-air talent, eventually working he way up to Program Director during her last year. As Communications Assistant for Bauer College, Amanda has a wide range of responsibilities and tasks each day. She is always updating and creating signage (print and digital) for Melcher Hall, writing stories for the Bauer Web site and creating content for MyBauerPride.com, and even helping out on video shoots and recording voiceovers. Amanda spends her days off crocheting, watching movies and baking her favorite dessert, cupcakes.
Web Developer 3
Marla was born and raised in central Iowa and moved to Houston upon graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in graphic design. She spent nearly 20 years of her career working for The Houston Post and The Houston Chronicle as a news artist, web designer and online art and design editor. When she’s not working on web design she’s tending her garden with her husband and daughter where they grow organic herbs, vegetables and fruit that they sell at local farmers markets. Marla is a big sports fan especially of baseball, college basketball and football. She loves spending time with her family and friends, great food, music and books of all genres.

He also previously worked for the University of Houston supporting faculty and students in the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Danielle is a proud Cougar alumna who received her B.A. in Media Studies from Valenti School of Communication in 2011. She began her career writing for her hometown newspaper and previously worked with Cougar Athletics' marketing department, AEG Live/The Messina Group and Chevron Houston Marathon. She has experience in college recruiting and admissions as well as social media management. As Media Relations Rep, she is the initial contact for media outlets who want to cover Bauer's newsworthy happenings. She develops content for Inside Bauer magazine and the college's media websites as well as whatever else the communication department requests, including, but not limited to: daily Starbucks runs, bringing homemade baked goods to the office, and sharing her wealth of pop culture knowledge. She enjoys building Lego masterpieces with her son; attending concerts with her fiancé; reading for her monthly book club; spending countless hours on celebrity social media sites; and reminiscing with her college best friends about their University of Houston "glory days."
Caleb’s interest in visual storytelling developed early in his youth when he started making movies with his dad’s old VHS camera. That interest quickly turned into a passion for digital cinematography, which led him to earn B.S. in Digital Media Arts from John Brown University in 2011. Caleb has enjoyed lighting, shooting, editing, and creating motion graphics for several different companies in Nebraska, Arkansas, Dallas and Houston. No matter what the subject is, he is always looking for better ways to make his videos look awesome.
