1. Configuration Management means managing the network’s hardware and software configuration and documenting (and ensuring it is updated as the configuration changes).
The most common activity is to add and delete users:
- deciding about the user group
- providing a login script
Configuration documentation includes information about
- network hardware
- configuration maps
- documentation on each individual network component (e.g., type of device, serial no, vendor, date of purchase, warranty info, repair history, telephone number for repairs)
- network software
- documentation on network software (e.g., NOSs, special purpose sw, licenses)
- user and application profiles
