Admission Standards

  1. Declaration of Major:
    a. Has met the college requirements to declare accounting as a major by the start of the first semester in PPA.
  2. Grades in Accounting Courses by the Start of the First Semester in PPA:
    a. ACCT 2331 and ACCT 2332 completed at UH with a grade of B or better in each course. If at least 3 hours of accounting coursework at the 3000 or 4000 level are completed, the accounting GPA is considered for admission and must be 3.0 or higher.
    b. If both ACCT 2331 and ACCT 2332 were not completed at UH, then a minimum of 3 hours of accounting coursework must be completed at UH at the 3000 or 4000 level with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  3. Hours Remaining and UH Cumulative GPA by the Start of the First Semester in PPA:
    a. Must have a certain minimum number of hours remaining to complete the accounting major (and any minor, if applicable) to be eligible to enter PPA. Secondary major hours are not calculated as part of the hours remaining.
    i. 45 hours remaining with a UH cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    ii. 30 hours remaining with a UH cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher

  4. Application:
    a. Submit the Online Application by the published deadline

Effective Fall 2020, qualified applicants must score a 3 or higher on the Bauer Writing Evaluation (BWE).

Students admitted to PPA are required to attend the Language of Business Orientation. Event details are emailed to PPA applicants each semester. Students interested in PPA who have less than 30 hours remaining by the start of the term for which they are interested in applying should contact the PPA advisor at ppa@uh.edu. Additionally, applicants who fail to meet the above requirements may request a review of their admission application.
