A Vision for the Future: Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Ted Bauer’s Transformational Gift

Twenty years ago, Mr. Charles T. “Ted” Bauer had the vision for Houston to have a leading business school. In the summer of 2000, he generously gave a historic $40 million gift that has transformed the college, which now bears his name: the C. T. Bauer College of Business.

Over the past two decades, Bauer College has truly become what Mr. Bauer intended, with world-class faculty whose research shapes scholarly research and informs practice, nationally ranked programs driven by business need, a passionate and engaged alumni base, and perhaps more importantly, opportunities for every student to thrive and reach their fullest potential.

In addition to the initial $40 million gift, the Bauer legacy lives on through generous ongoing support from the C. T. Bauer Foundation, with funding for the Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship Program, which provides selected students with renewable scholarships that allow them to focus on their studies while being involved in leadership and student organization activities.

This week, we begin our celebration of Mr. Bauer's enduring legacy by dedicating our social media channels to recognize the impact his vision has had on our College, sharing stories and memories from students, alumni, and faculty and staff of the last 20 years of transformation. Next month, we'll release a special video that captures all of the excitement from our virtual celebration. Please share with us how Mr. Bauer's legacy has impacted you personally by joining the conversation online, using #BauerGift2020.
