Thank you for your interest in presenting a topic that will surely recharge and rejuvenate your fellow advisors!
Presenting your ideas and best practices from your advising office are great ways to further your advising career, network, and get the word out about your college. Here are subject matter ideas and questions to ask when considering proposal submission:
- General Best Practice: Is there something that we do exceptionally well in our advising office that other units could benefit from? For example, training new advisors, management of advising programs, innovative retention programs, etc.
- Is there a subject matter that you (or your advising office) have expertise on? For example, online advising, athletic advising or other specific populations, advising technology, advisor education, etc.
- Is there a project that you’ve collaborated with other colleges or advising units on? Consider having a panel format.
- Is there a general topic that you just want to discuss? Consider proposing a round table discussion.
