Feb. 23, 2005 - Mr. Mel Davis Presentation - RFID in Supply Chain Management

Mr. Mel Davis, Reverse Logistics Services Director, ModusLink Corporation, generously agreed to give a presentation in our "RFID Programming" class on RFID in supply chain management.

Mr. Davis is a veteran of the Supply Chain Management Industry with a proven record of customer satisfaction. He has been the President of his own Third Party Logistics Company as well as holding key leadership roles in a “Top 5” Global Warehousing Company as well as executive level positions in a Fortune 200 distribution company and a privately held e-fulfillment company.   Mel is currently the Director of Marketing Services for ModusLink Corporation a billion Supply Chain Management company.  Mr. Davis believes in devising solutions that deliver measurable results that are reflected on the customer’s bottom line. His logistics specialties are strategic direction, operations management and measurement, production, process improvement, profitability improvement, and hazardous materials.  He is a member of the Council of Logistics Management (CLM), is the Education Chair of the local CLM Round Table and frequently attends continuing education seminars at Stanford and Georgia Tech. Mr. Davis holds a BBA from Texas State University and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas

Among other things, Mr. Davis talked about the potential of RFID technology in improving efficiency and visibility within supply chain. The presentation concluded with Mr. Davis' advice to the students on how to succeed in business. Mr. Davis' presentation received a lot of interest from the audience and encouraged students in "RFID Programming" class to learn more about the technology.  Mr. Davis' presentation slides can be viewed here
