Director of Communications
Jessica is a proud Cougar who has played a number of roles at the University of Houston, from student to two-time alumna and now staff member, as director of communications at Bauer College. In this position, she leads all integrated communication and creative efforts to build brand awareness and reputation of UH Bauer and oversees a talented group of communication professionals who handle the college’s Web site, printed publications, video production, photography, advertising, marketing and social media. Jessica loves exploring the UH campus, particularly the two Starbucks locations. She joined the Bauer staff in 2007 as communications manager; before that, she was a reporter at The Baytown Sun. Jessica recently earned her master’s degree in mass communication from (where else?) the University of Houston, and in her spare time, enjoys being an amateur "foodie" and going to concerts with her husband, Michael, a two-time alumnus of the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She was born and mostly raised in South Louisiana, and thinks Mardi Gras should be a national holiday.
Amanda graduated from Sam Houston State University in May 2010, with a B.A. in Mass Communication and a minor in English. Her career began at KSHU, the student-run radio station on the Sam Houston campus, in 2008 as on-air talent, eventually working he way up to Program Director during her last year. As Communications Assistant for Bauer College, Amanda has a wide range of responsibilities and tasks each day. She is always updating and creating signage (print and digital) for Melcher Hall, writing stories for the Bauer Web site and creating content for whereawesomehappens.com, and even helping out on video shoots and recording voiceovers. Amanda spends her days off crocheting, watching movies and baking her favorite dessert, cupcakes.
Web Developer 3
Marla was born and raised in central Iowa and moved to Houston upon graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in graphic design. She spent nearly 20 years of her career working for The Houston Post and The Houston Chronicle as a news artist, web designer and online art and design editor. When she’s not working on web design she’s tending her garden with her husband and daughter where they grow organic herbs, vegetables and fruit that they sell at local farmers markets. Marla is a big sports fan especially of baseball, college basketball and football. She loves spending time with her family and friends, great food, music and books of all genres.
Web Developer 3
Brandon is a web developer and professional communicator who is proud to be a part of the Office of Communications in the C. T. Bauer College of Business. A graduate of the UH School of Communication (Go COOGS!) and former Editor of The Daily Cougar, Brandon has worked at five media outlets in Texas including the Houston Chronicle. He also previously worked for the University of Houston supporting faculty and students in the College of Education and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. When he's not coding in the Bauer Web Development Team Cave (BWDTC, Melcher-320K) he's probably in his garden or spending time with his family.
