BBA Basics: An Information Session for Prospective and Newly-Admitted Pre-business Students

What is BBA Basics?

BBA Basics is an information session designed to give new and prospective Pre-business majors an overview of UH Bauer College programs and requirements, as well as initial academic advising and career information. Reservations are not required to attend.

When & Where are BBA Basics Sessions Held?

BBA Basics sessions are offered on Fridays during the Fall and Spring semesters and on varying days during the summer. Typically, BBA Basics is not offered during special events or holidays.

Check-in approximately 20-30 minutes prior to sessions at 262 Melcher Hall (Academic Advising front desk), on the second floor of Melcher Hall at the top of the inner staircase. (For a BBA Basics schedule, see below.)

Who Should Attend these Sessions?

BBA Basics sessions are designed for:

  • Prospective transfer students who are within six months of transferring to UH
  • Current UH students who want to become business majors
  • Newly-admitted Pre-business majors

IMPORTANT NOTES:

TRANSFER STUDENTS:  Attendance at a BBA Basics Session or UH Orientation is REQUIRED for all newly-admitted transfer students!  Those unable to attend BBA Basics session or UH Transfer Orientation should contact the Office of Undergraduate Business Programs to make alternate arrangements.

FRESHMAN STUDENTS: BBA Basics sessions are not designed for prospective or newly-admitted freshman.  We encourage freshman to visit our webpage designed for high school students and participate in campus tours and related UH Admissions events to discover more about UH Bauer College.

All newly-admitted undeclared ("USD") freshman are required to be advised by the Undergraduate Scholars Academic Advising Center. Once they are advised and registered, they are welcome to attend a BBA Basics Session.

What to Bring/How to Prepare

We suggest that you do the following to prepare for your BBA Basics Session:

  • Bring college transcripts (can be unofficial) and any other documentation that you have regarding any college credit that you've recieved.
  • If you have never taken a college-level Math course before, take the Math Placement Exam to determine what Math coures you will need to register for after the session.

BBA Basics and Bauer College Tour Schedule

TOURS: During the Fall and Spring semesters, prior to BBA Basics (except for UH Orientation days) there are tours of Melcher Hall, home of UH Bauer College. If you would like a tour, check-in at 12:20pm at 262 Melcher Hall (Academic Advising front desk).

Want more? UH Campus tours are held at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm by the Office of Admissions in 128 Welcome Center.
