Posto São Luiz (St. Louis Post) is a rural ranch located in Itaipava, near Petropolis (city founded by Emperor Pedro II in 1843), State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This ranch has belonged for several generations to the de Souza Prates family, which includes Celia de Souza Prates (widow of Ricardo Peixoto Nin, brother of my father) and her children (first cousins of mine): Luiz Ricardo (Ricardito, who passed away in 1993), María del Carmen (Carminha), Celina, María Esther (Teté) and Martín Alfredo (Tutú) -- and their descendants.

On the times of the Brazilian Empire, the Posto São Luiz was the place where stagecoaches changed horses, on their way between Rio and Petropolis.

There is a 1943 document that tells some of the history of Posto São Luiz: "Um Rancho que Revive o Passado" (in Portuguese).
