Personal note: I spent the 1995-1996 academic year at "the Film School" at the University of Southern California. I had the opportunity of working with Jon on some projects. He was a man of few words. In most cases many meetings might go "on and on" while he observed silently from the back of the room. The meetings were never finished until someone asked for Jon's opinion. Whatever Jon's opinion was, it was always clear to the project members that his solution was far better than anything the group had come up with. And we all understood Jon could have done it all without us. It was like having Benjamin Franklin and his spectacles in the room.
