Fall 2009 Football Home Games Feature UH Bauer Sideline Coaches
Growth Capital Partners chairman John T. McNabb II and FEC Holdings founder and co-owner L.R. "Robin" French had the best seats in the house as guest sideline coaches for the Oct. 31 game against Southern Miss, which the Cougars won, 50-43. Both McNabb and French are members of Bauer College's Dean's Executive Board.
Guest sideline coaches Randy Giles, CEO for UnitedHealthcare, and Richard G. Rawson (BBA '72), president of Administaff and chairman of the UH Bauer Dean's Executive Board, were on the field during the Oct. 24 Homecoming game vs. SMU, which UH won, 38-15.
Excitement filled the air in the Coaches' Club before the Sept. 26 game against Texas Tech, which the Cougars won 29-28. Pictured from left are Bauer College Alumni Association past president Matthew Houston; guest sideline coach Jeff Allen, president and CEO of Integrity Financial Group; Dean Arthur Warga; guest sideline coach Gerald W. McElvy, president of ExxonMobil Foundation; and UH athletic director Mack Rhoades.
As guest sideline coaches, Allen and McElvy had the opportunity to watch Houston's gripping win over Texas Tech in the final quarter of the Sept. 26 game, clinching victory by one point.
Guest sideline coaches for the UH Cougars 55-7 season opener win against Northwestern State University were Harris County Sherriff Adrian Garcia, left, and Robert Erwin (BS ’95), owner and president of Pi Studios. They spent time in the stadium with BCAA immediate past president Matthew Houston, center.
The 2009 University of Houston football season marks the launch of the Bauer Business Leaders Program, a joint effort between the UH Bauer College of Business and UH Football that aims to connect student athletes with prominent Houston business leaders.
Each Cougar home game will feature two honorary Guest Sideline Coaches, who will attend the pre-game meal with the team and coaches, participate in all team meetings before the game, arrive to the game on the team bus, and participate in the traditional Cougar Walk with the team and the Cougar marching band and cheer team.
“Bauer is a first-class organization, and their alumni and supporters lead the business community,” said Justin Moore, assistant athletics director for football operations. “We believe this partnership will enhance the connection between UH Athletics and Houston’s business leaders, and will be a great program for everyone involved.”
