The Princeton Review Includes UH Bauer in Best B-schools in the Country List
Students were enthusiastic about their experiences at UH Bauer when responding to The Princeton Review’s survey about the nation’s best business schools.
The Princeton Review’s latest guide to the country’s best business schools includes the University of Houston C. T. Bauer College of Business as one of 301 schools selected to be profiled.
"The Best 301 Business Schools" (Random House / The Princeton Review) surveyed 19,000 students from in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The guide does not offer rankings for each school, but includes two-page profiles of the best business schools in the country. Schools may also be included in 11 subcategory rankings such as “Toughest to Get Into.”
“We chose the 301 business schools in this book based on our opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review senior vice president of publishing.“We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools who rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book."
A summary of Bauer highlights reported by students includes a strong academic focus on the energy industry, friendly students, a good peer network, cutting-edge classes and a great metropolitan setting.
Bauer students also had good things to say about the high caliber of Bauer faculty, the value of non-classroom events like an annual Leadership and Ethics Week, and the level of support from the Rockwell Career Center and other UH resources.
Enthusiastic quotes from Bauer students paint a clear picture of many of the school’s strengths.
On faculty:
- “My professors in the past year… included the senior M&A executive for a global Fortune 500 company, and a former treasurer of ExxonMobil.”
- “Professors are knowledgeable and generally have experience from industry, not just academia.”
On the MBA program:
- “The cohorts allow you to get to know the other students and each semester’s classes are tied together very well.”
- “The most valuable part of class is often the insight that your colleagues bring to the table.”

On career and placement:
- “The city of Houston has lots of career opportunities and Bauer has an exceptional reputation. Our graduates are synonymous with hard work and dedication.”
- “Several of my classmates have offered me very well-paying jobs at their companies. Most of my close friends work in management positions at major Fortune 500 companies.”
- Rockwell Career Center stages “two huge and industry-diverse career fairs specifically for Business and MBAs.”
