Michael C. Linn, Chairman and CEO of Linn Energy

The Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston will continue the tradition of giving students the opportunity to hear from real world business professionals with the Nov. 12 Distinguished Entrepreneur Speaker Series (DESS).

The Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship will host Michael C. Linn, Chairman and CEO of Linn Energy as the featured speaker at this year’s DESS.

Linn currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LINN Energy, LLC, which he founded in 2003 after a 20-plus-year career in the natural gas and oil industry. Since then, Linn has led a team of dedicated employees to grow LINN Energy from a small private company operating a handful of natural gas wells into a publicly traded, multi-billion dollar organization with more than 500 employees spread across more than a dozen U.S. locations.

Linn’s entrepreneurial success is in the energy industry is an inspiration to students and the business community, WCE Director Dan Steppe said.  

“We are pleased to have Mike Linn as our guest speaker for this year’s DESS event,” he added. “Mike embodies everything we teach at the Wolff Center, and I hope students enjoy hearing from a successful entrepreneur who truly wants to share what it takes to realize your professional dreams.”

The Distinguished Entrepreneur Speaker Series (DESS) was established to provide a forum where renowned guest speakers can share their experiences from the world of entrepreneurship with both students and the Houston community.
