Error Detection
Polynomial Checking adds a character or series of characters to the end of the message based on a mathematical algorithm
A Checksum is calculated by adding the decimal value of each character in the message, dividing the sum by 255, and using the remainder as the checksum that is transmitted to the other end of the communication circuit
The receiving end calculates its own checksum. If the two are equal the message is presumed to be correct
The checksum gets close to 95% of the errors
