Bauer Graduation Commencement

Tickets for the Ceremony

  • To ensure adequate seating, the ceremony will be ticketed. All guests, including infants two years or older, must have a ticket for entry. There is no charge for these tickets.
  • All candidates who have filed their paperwork by the specified deadline and have been approved to walk at Commencement may order tickets.
  • Based on projected participation, each candidate participating may order up to 5 guest tickets.
  • Additional tickets may be available depending upon the number of candidates attending the ceremony.

Explanation of 5-Ticket Maximum

  • Each participating graduate will be allocated 5 tickets for guests (the graduate doesn't need a ticket for admission).
  • The Cullen Performance Hall will accommodate 1,100 guests, and historically we have 220 graduates participating in the Commencement ceremony. The following calculation will show why the ticket number is 5 (5 x 220 = 1,100).

Admission By Ticket Only

Each guest must present a ticket in order to be admitted to the Cullen Performance Hall. As mentioned previously, graduating students do not need a ticket for admission.

Guest Seating Expectations

Please inform members of your party, particularly special needs guests, that:

  • It is assigned seating in the Cullen Performance Hall and doors open at 6:00 p.m. Doors close temporarily at 7:00 pm while graduates walk in.
  • The ceremony will last approximately 1 1/2 hours.
  • Special needs guests (on crutches or in wheel chairs) will sit in a reserved area; a ticket issued to a special needs guest is considered to be part of the 5 ticket maximum. Please indicate on your Graduate Commencement Form if you have a guest requiring a special needs ticket.
  • Toddlers 2 years or older sitting on someone's lap must use 1 of the 5 tickets.
  • Placing chairs in any location, standing in any location, sitting in aisles, etc., are fire code violations and will not be permitted.
  • If young children are not able to sit quietly, a family member is expected to step outside with them so as not to disturb the other guests.

Ordering Tickets

Candidates must order their commencement tickets via the Graduate Commencement Form September 19 - October 10 in order to reserve Commencement tickets.

Candidates who file their paperwork late or who do not fill out the Graduate Commencement Form September 19 through October 10 are not guaranteed the maximum number of guest tickets. However, we will do our best to assist late applicants, to the extent possible. Lost tickets can not be replaced.

Due to Hurricane Ike the deadline to make reservations to walk has been extended to October 29.
