MBA Admissions

Admission eligibility for the MBA Program requires a four-year undergraduate degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution. The undergraduate degree may be in any discipline.

* Those applicants who are classified as international by the UH Admissions Office, which includes applicants currently holding any type of visa and those needing student visa.

Requirements:

A Complete Application should include items, 1 through 6:
  1. Application for Graduate Studies
    1. Online application using the Apply Texas Application
  2. Transcripts
    1. Two (2) official, sealed transcripts from all higher education institutions attended
    2. International Transcripts – We need one original transcript in the original language and the other must be an official English Translation of the transcript. Once submitted, Office of International Admissions will evaluate them.

  3. Test Scores
    1. Official GMAT or GRE scores, less than 5 years old sent to our ETS school code
      1. GMAT: Part-Time program: XT1-26-94 (Professional)
      2. GMAT: Full-Time program: XT1-26-83 (Full-Time)
      3. GRE: Full-Time/Part time program: 6870

    International applicants must submit a test of English language proficiency unless they have earned a high school diploma or bachelor’s degree or a higher from a college or university in the US. One of the following tests may be submitted to meet this requirement. Please note that scores over two years will not be accepted.

    1. Official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score above 603 on the paper-based test or 100 on the internet-based test. The University code for TOEFL scores is 6870. For more information please visit, www.toefl.org
    2. Official IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score above 6.5. For more information please visit, www.ielts.org
    3. Official PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) minimum of 70. For more information please visit, www.pearsonpte.com
  4. A Non-refundable Bauer College Application Fee
    1. A $75 Bauer College of Business application fee is required of all applicants. The fee can be submitted while completing the Apply Texas Application online or by using the following link https://www.bauer.uh.edu/gpp_payment/payment.aspx or by mailing in a personal U.S. check or money order directly. Make the check or money order payable to the University of Houston. The name and student I. D. number of the applicant must be on the check or money order. NO CASH will be accepted! Only applicants whose fees have been paid will be reviewed.
    2. Non-Refundable $75 Application fee for International Students:

      International students must pay a $75 processing fee to International Admissions, in addition to the Bauer College application fee of $75, for a total fee of $150, which can be submitted on-line or by a personal U.S. check or money order. If submitting a personal U.S. check or money order, make payable to the University of Houston. The name and student I. D. number of the applicant must be on the check or money order. NO CASH will be accepted! Only applicants whose fees have been paid will be reviewed.

  5. Self appraisal, Resume, Goals statements, Letter of Recommendation (Please download the files locally to edit and submit them)

    The following documents must be submitted as part of the application package:

    1. Two letters of recommendation from academics, employers or professionals are required for your application.

      • Once you fill in the required information at the link above (if you do not know your PSID you can leave that blank), your recommender will receive an email from us with the recommendation form.
      • They simply fill in the form and click submit.View letter of recommendation format here.
    2. Self Appraisal Form. (Download. Requires Adobe Reader. Do not use Mac Preview). (Click here to submit documents online)
    3. Resume. (Click here to submit documents online)
    4. Goal statement. It should be a 1-2 page discussion of the reasons you are pursuing an MBA and how this degree fits into your career aspirations, as well as why you chose the University of Houston. Please include any additional information you think the Admissions Committee might find useful. (Click here to submit documents online)
  6. In Addition, International Applicants Need To Submit:
    1. I-20 Transfer Form (Only if applicant has an I-20 from another institution)
    2. International Address Form
    3. Letter of Financial Backing
    4. Two (2) Passport photos
    5. Copy of Passport

  7. Interviews
      Interviews are required for applicants who have been selected to continue the admission process. Not every applicant is invited for an interview. The interviews are by invitation only.

NOTE: International students must have a four-year degree from an accredited university to apply for the MBA. Three-year degrees are not considered equivalent. There is no bridge program at UH. Students with a three–year degree will likely need to combine it with a completed master's degree from their home country before applying.
