David L. Mendez, Chairman and CEO of Chase’s Texas Region, has been with JPMorgan Chase and its predecessors for 28 years. Currently, he has responsibility for leading the Middle Market initiative for the state of Texas, which includes the Commercial Bank and Specialized Industries. Most recently, David led the bank’s initiatives in similar lines of business for the Houston Region, while overseeing National Middle Market responsibilities for Mergers & Acquisitions, Syndications, Real Estate, Corporate Mortgage Finance and Capital Markets. During his tenure as President and Vice Chairman, his additional responsibilities included management of Chase Securities Corporate Investment Banking activity in the South/Southwest. Prior responsibilities included various senior management positions throughout the firm's Commercial, Middle Market and Metropolitan Banking Groups. David is a member of the Bank's Executive Committee and has recently chaired its Houston Area Board of Directors.
Within the community, David is actively involved in organizations that provide services to youth, families and the elderly, as well as initiatives that foster business and economic development for Houston. Currently, David is the Chairman of the Center for Houston’s Future. He continues as a member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast having just completed the co-chairmanship of the 2003-2004 citywide fund-raising campaign. David serves on the Board and Executive Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership and Texas Children’s Hospital. He is also on the Board of Central Houston, the Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Advisory Board of the Houston Endowment.
