Clay McFaden

Bio
Dr. McFaden joined the Center for Global Studies as a Clinical Assistant Professor in August 2012. He teaches courses in the economics and politics of globalization, and as is the case for each member of the Global Studies Team at the C. T. Bauer College of Business, Dr. McFaden sponsors a study abroad course, which in 2013, will be to Australia and New Zealand. In addition, Dr. McFaden is the point of contact for fund-raising, providing scholarships for students enrolled in study-abroad courses sponsored by the Global Studies Team.
Dr. McFaden earned an M.A. in 2003 and a Ph.D. in 2008, both in Political Science from the University of Houston, and he has a wealth of experience from both academia and business, having taught International Relations, American Foreign Policy, and an internationalized curriculum in American Government since 2004. Prior to entering academia, Mr. McFaden worked for the better part of 7 years as a systems engineer on NASA's space station program, having earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Also, prior to entering academia, Mr. McFaden worked for 3 years as an independent consultant in business, marketing his research and technical writing skills to a variety of Houston-area businesses involved in law, consulting, health care, academics, and transportation.
Dr. McFaden is a native Houstonian, who loves the cosmopolitan nature of Houston as well as its fast-paced, on-the-go business culture. He finds it so rewarding to teach to such an internationally-diverse student body at the University of Houston. He often says, "The world comes to me," referring to the many international students with whom he interacts each semester.
