- What classes can i take to count towards the required marketing electives?
- Any 3000 or 4000 level MARK course (that you have not already taken and meet pre-requisites for) will count towards the required marketing electives. To help you with selecting your marketing electives, the Marketing department has put together a website on marketing interest areas and the recommended marketing electives that relate towards each area of interest. - What can i take for my advance business electives?
- You may take any 3000 or 4000 level business course (any FINA, ENTR, ACCT, DISC, MANA, or MARK course) that you meet the prerequisites for and have not already taken. If you wish to take additional MARK courses as advanced business electives you may do so. - What are marketing substitution courses?
- These are courses taken outside the Marketing department that can count towards your required marketing electives. Here is a link to the list of approved Marketing substitution courses.
- How many marketing substitution courses can I have?
- All Marketing majors are allowed to count two approved substitution courses. In some cases it is possible to count up to three substitutions if they are all taken from the same department and you are a single major in marketing only. - May I take a prerequisite course (such as MARK 3336) at the same time as a 4000-level MARK course?
- No. Prerequisites are strictly enforced and must be successfully completed before taking any course in the Bauer College of Business. Students that enroll in a course without meeting the prerequisite(s) may be dropped without a tuition refund.
- Can I do an internship and get credit for it?

- What is PES?
- The Program for Excellence in Selling is a nationally recognized selling program that teaches students the skills needed to effectively sell products and services. Focusing primarily on business-to-business sales, the PES program gives students the opportunity to gain real world sales experience while still in an educational environment. - What are the admission requirements for PES?
- The admissions committee evaluates factors such as grade point average, performance in MARK 3337, selling experience, application essay, and an interview.
- When can I apply to PES?
- If you have completed or are currently enrolled in MARK 3337 you are eligible to apply. Students are accepted for spring, summer, and fall. Please click here for specific application deadlines.
- Will the classes I take for the PES program count towards my business degree?
- Yes, Marketing majors may count PES courses towards a marketing degree, either as marketing electives, or as advanced business electives. Business majors pursuing an area of concentration other than marketing may utilize PES courses as advanced business electives. All majors may also pursue a minor in sales. However, Marketing majors with Sales minors are NOT able to count PES courses towards the required Marketing electives, your PES courses must be in addition to your Marketing coursework. For questions regarding the Sales minor please contact the marketing advisor. Students must be accepted into the PES program prior to declaring their Sales minor.
- How long does PES takes to complete?
- The program takes two semesters to complete. However, PES courses are not offered in the summer.
- Are there night classes offered for Marketing or PES?
- No, the undergraduate business program at UH, including the PES program, is exclusively a daytime program.
- How does one file for graduation?
