Procedures for Commencement Ceremony:
Reserve Online
If you plan to attend the Fall 2009 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony, please complete the online form by Friday December 11, 2009.
Check In
Yeoman Field House in the Athletics/Alumni Center. Graduates should report to Yeoman Field House in the Athletics/Alumni Center at 2pm. Please be prompt, graduates arriving after 2:50pm may not arrive in time to join the processional.
Walk Cards
At the check in tables, pick up a walk card with your name, address, and the degree you earned (BBA). Be sure to check your card carefully and make any necessary corrections. The photographer will send proofs to the address printed on the card. Keep this card until you reach the stage. The card will be used to call your name. Bauer College of Business volunteer staff will be available to direct you regarding procedures for the processional, presentation of the graduates and candidates, and recessional. Please refrain from bringing any hand carried items, volunteers will not be responsible for any personal items. Each graduate will be individually recognized as he or she crosses the stage. Any honors earned by students will be recognized.
Ceremony
The ceremony will last approximately two and a half hours.
Cap and Gowns
All graduates participating in the commencement ceremony must wear UH official customs caps and gown items. Students may order their caps and gown online. The bookstore hosts a Graduation Fair every semester. For the Fall 2009 semester it will be September 29 - October 2 from 9am to 4pm. Honor Cords
Students graduating with honors may purchase honor cords at the UH Bookstore.
Program
Every effort is made to include the names of all official graduates in the printed Commencement Program. However, please be aware that the program is not an official document with regard to eligibility for graduation or any honors conferred. Inclusion of a name in the program does not guarantee graduation or honors status. Please note that students who apply for graduation after the graduation deadline may not see their name appear in the Commencement Program.
Privacy
Students who requested that public information not be released must specify that their information may be included in the commencement programs when applying for graduation. Otherwise, the university will not publish their graduation information unless the Bauer College of Business, Undergraduate Business Programs has a signed release form.
Invitations
Students can order personalized invitations and announcements from Herff-Jones Company, the authorized vendor for the University of Houston. Orders may be placed online or 281-379-3825.
Special Needs
Students or guests who have disabilities attending Commencement activities can request reasonable accommodations through the Center for Students with Disabilities. Students must notify the Center for Students with DisABILITIES (CSD) for any additional services or requests needed at least 2 WEEKS prior to their scheduled commencement ceremony. Parking
Free parking will be available to graduates and their guests. Students are strongly urged to park in Lot 16B, which is closest to Yeoman Field House where you report for the ceremony. Your guests are urged to park at Robertson Stadium in Lot 15D, which is closest to Hofheinz Pavilion.
Photography
There will be a professional photographer on stage during the ceremony to take photos of each graduate. You will receive proofs at the mailing address on your walk card. You will then be able to order photos directly through the commercial firm. Please ask your family to take photos from their seats or before/after the ceremony. The fire marshal requires that we keep the aisles clear at all times.
Cell Phones
As a courtesy to speakers on stage, guests and graduates will not be permitted to talk on cell phones during the graduation ceremony.
