Overview of Courses

Business and non-business majors interested in learning about personal finance may consider:

GENB 3300 Introduction to Personal Finance.  This course covers money management, credit, loans, investing, and taxes. Students planning to pursue the Personal Financial Planning track or minor should not take GENB 3300 Introduction to Personal Finance. Students who have already taken this course should petition to substitute that course for FINA 4352.

Business majors interested in course work related to careers in personal financial planning may consider the following courses:

  • FINA 4323 Investments and Mutual Fund Management
  • FINA 4352 Personal Financial Planning
  • FINA 4354 (Risk Management), FINA 4396 (internship)
  • FINA 4394 Life Insurance and Annuities
  • Recommended advanced business electives include: ACCT 4331(Federal Income Tax I – Individual) and courses in Professional Selling
