Organization

The Fund is formed as a limited liability company separate from the University with share interests held by members.  Definitions on the principal agents involved in the Fund’s activities include:

  • Members: A Limited number of accredited experienced investors who hold a proportionate interest in the value of the Fund portfolio

  • Portfolio Managers: Graduate students enrolled in the Bauer College’s FSM Certificate Program serve as portfolio managers to the Fund.  These students, working in teams, make all investment decisions for the Fund, buy and sell securities, monitor and manage portfolio risk, track performance, provide fund accounting, and provide reporting and shareholder services to the Fund’s Members.

  • Board of Managers: The Board is composed of eight members, three of which are affiliated with UH.  The Board sets general operating policy guidelines and contracts with custodians, auditors, and with the portfolio managers.

  • Faculty and Investment Counselors: Full-time teaching faculty are responsible for all aspects of the operation of the classes within which students manage the investment advisory function.  They are aided by investment counselors, made up of professional portfolio managers and analysts, who provide general advice and counsel to student groups on market operations and their due diligence process.

  • Guest Speakers: To further enhance the students' knowledge and add diversity, top ranking professionals volunteer their time to speak to the class. These lecturers are engaged in the financial industry and are experts in their field.
